Offers an updated synthesis of the development, key achievements, material, organizational and ideological features of pre-Hispanic cultures of the Andean region of western South America. Spans around 12,000 years of pre-Hispanic cultural developments, from the earliest hunters-gatherers to the Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire. Focuses on the modern nation of Peru with an emphasis on the Paijan, Cupisnique, Chav+n, Paracas, Nasca, Gallinazo Moche, Recuay, Tiwanaku, Wari, Cajamarca, Sic+n, Chim+, and Inka.
